I was about 11 (Grade 5 or 6) and I was at a friend's house for lunch. His brother was into great music (though I didn't realize it at the time) like The Eagles, Springsteen and Jackson Browne and he put on album called "Running On Empty" with this really cool album cover. Well, from the first song, I got lost in the lyrics. I just loved it. I remember going home and telling my dad about this guy..."Browne-something". My dad immediately says "you mean James Brown". Wrong Brown (plus this one spelled it differently). So we headed off to Sam The Record Man soonafter, and the rest is history. It was when I picked up Late For The Sky that I knew that I had found a favorite for life.

Many, many years later I have every album he ever made and he continues to put out great albums with those same great lyrics. Over the years I've seen Jackson about 14/15 times and every time has been a great experience. Later on in high school I began DJing and started a business called Backstreet Productions. Anyone who came to one of our dances knew that when "The Load-Out/Stay" came on that it was the end of the evening. Later when I started to DJ weddings I would follow the Bride & Groom's last dance with Jackson's version of "Stay" and, of course, I would then play...."just one more song!".
